This new feature has to be one of the most requested developments from riders since we've launched! We're pleased to let you know that Hoolan now offers two ways for you to export your GPS data:
1. MANUAL EXPORT: Download your GPX files
Go to the three dot menu at the top right of the session details screen. Choose Export GPX File, wait for the file to download and then pick your preferred way to transfer your GPX file. This will allow you to upload your GPS data directly to other platforms, such as Strava.
2. AUTOMATIC EXPORT: Using Apple Health
We've enabled the Hoolan watch app to write GPS data to Apple Health while you are recording. Once the GPS data from your session is in Apple Health you can then use third party apps like Health Fit ($4.99 one off fee) to set up an automatic export of your data to other platforms like Strava, for example. In order to make this happen, you need to have given Hoolan permission to write both your 'Workout Routes' and 'Workouts' to Apple Health. These permissions are requested when you first download and open up the Hoolan Watch App. If you were using Hoolan before this export feature went live (14 July 2023), a review health permission screen should pop up when you next open the watch app to ask you to accept the new write to 'Workout Routes' permission. Failing that, or to double check you have the right permissions set on your phone, navigate to Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Hoolan and toggle write to 'Workout Routes' on.
Write Permissions Screen on your Apple Watch:
Amending your Health Permissions on your iPhone:
Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Hoolan
We do have plans to develop a direct Strava integration from Hoolan in the future, but we hope these two options will be useful for riders in the meantime.
