Sessions not importing from Garmin
If your session hasn't imported from Garmin to Hoolan, there are a number of things to check:
Has your activity synched from your watch to Garmin Connect?
If not, then your session is most likely still on your watch. To enable the synch, have your watch next to your phone and open up Garmin Connect. This should start the synch process and you'll see a moving synch icon in the top menu. If this is not rotating, then tap on it to start the synch. This will change into a green tick once your activity has been synched successfully into Garmin connect and the data will then come through into the Hoolan App. You may need to refresh the Hoolan session screen (see below).
Have you refreshed the Session Feed screen?
Please first refresh your Session Feed screen by pulling down on the screen or pressing on the refresh button (if it is your first session).
When did you record your session?
Hoolan will only automatically import the activities you have recorded AFTER the integration has been set up. At the moment, we do not import your history, but this is something we intend to add in the future.
Import Activities
Hoolan will only import the activities you have set up to import from Garmin. On the Hoolan iPhone App, go to Settings > Integrations > Garmin and click on 'Set Automatic Imports'. Ensure that you have selected all the Garmin activity types that you would like to import into Hoolan.
IMPORTANT: Adding a Garmin activity to the list of activities to be automatically imported will mean that only future sessions recorded under this Garmin activity will feed through to Hoolan.
Garmin Export Activities Permission
You must accept the Garmin export activities permission when you connect your Hoolan and Garmin accounts. It is possible for your accounts to be connected, but without this permission we won’t receive any data from Garmin. This permission can only be updated from within Garmin connect. Go to the Garmin Connect App and go to the three dot 'More' menu at the bottom right of the page. Go to Settings > Connected Apps > Hoolan and check that Activities is set to 'ON'.
Was your session recorded on your Garmin watch?
Your sessions have to be recorded on a physical Garmin watch. We don’t process FIT files if they are added manually to Garmin. We do this so we can guarantee that we can get the Doppler speed and maintain accurate data.
Does your Garmin watch export FIT files?
We only process Garmin devices that produce FIT files. All devices released around 2017 and onwards record in the FIT format. At the moment we don’t process files sent to us in the TCX or GPX formats.
Privacy Settings in Garmin Connect
It is possible that the import isn't working if your privacy settings are set to 'Only Me'. If this is the case, changing your privacy settings to 'My Connections' in Garmin Connect then disconnecting and reconnecting your Garmin Connect account in Hoolan by going to Settings > Integrations > Garmin, will resolve the issue.This help article explains how to change privacy settings.
