Customise Jump Detection & Alerts

From the Hoolan App Settings screen on your Garmin watch, you are able to customise which activities you'd like jump detection to be activated for, and the height threshold for receiving alerts (vibration and ping) on your watch.

For example, you may only be jumping when you're kiteboarding on a twin tip, and only want to be alerted if you've jumped over 3m.

We have defaulted jump detection to 'OFF' for the activity types where the great majority of people don't jump (see below).  If you're not jumping, or only jumping on a certain board type, disabling jump detection saves battery usage and prevents any false jumps from being recorded, from things like riding over waves or porpoising on the foil.

Default settings:

By default, jump detection is 'ON' for the following activity types, with alerts for all jumps over 1.5m*:

  • Kiteboarding (twintip board)

  • Kitesurfing (directional board) strapped

  • Kitesurfing (directional board) strapless

  • Kitefoiling (foil board) strapped

  • Kite Landboarding

  • Kite Snowboarding

  • Kite Skiing

'OFF' for the following activity types:

  • Kitefoiling (foil board) strapless

  • Kite landbuggying

  • Kite skating

  • Wingfoiling strapped

  • Wingfoiling strapless

  • Wing SUP

  • Wing landboarding

  • Windsurfing (directional board) strapped

  • Windsurfing (directional board) strapless

  • Windsurfing (foil board) strapped

  • Windsurfing (foil board) strapless

  • Wing snowboarding

  • Wing skiing

  • Wing skating

* We only track jumps 1.5m and above as, from testing, we've found that riding over waves can lead to false jumps being recorded.

Manage your settings:

Open the Hoolan App on your Garmin Watch. Navigate up to 'Settings' (bottom of the list). Select 'Activity Settings'.

Your changes will be saved automatically. Follow the same process for any other activity you'd like to customise.

TIP:

When you open up Hoolan on your Garmin watch, If you already have an activity set from a previous session, and have a 5 button watch, you can press and hold down the left, middle menu button to quickly access jump detection and alert settings for that activity without having to go to 'Settings'.
