Fast finish and save feature

As riders, we know that trying to finish recording a watersports session by touching the Apple Watch screen with wet/cold/sandy fingers can be difficult.

 

To make this easier, Hoolan offers users the option to use a short cut instead of using screen touch to end their session.

A double press of both the digital crown and the side button at the same time will finish and save your session. You can configure this to work on a single press, a double press (default) or not at all, from the Settings Screen on your Apple Watch. This works whether you have the waterlock on or off.

If your watch takes a screenshot when you try to fast finish your session, this is a configuration issue on your watch and easily fixed. On your watch, go to Settings App > General > Screenshots - toggle the Enable screenshots to off.

Follow these steps to ensure the fast finish feature works correctly for you:

Do a test
 

There is a technique to getting the quick, short presses right, so we recommend you do a test recording at home beforehand. 
 

If you hold the buttons down too long your watch will restart, but rest assured that if this does happen after a session, it will still be saved to your watch. The next time you open the Hoolan App on your watch, the session data will feed across to your phone.

STEP 1
Check your permissions

In order to use this short cut, you must have accepted the health permission 'write to Workouts' when you signed up to Hoolan. You can check and amend your health permissions by going to Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Hoolan.

Check that your write to workouts permission is set to ON

STEP 2

Configure your Fast Finish short cut
 

As a default, the Fast Finish is set to work on a double press of the crown and the side button together (within a 1.5 second period). We've done this as it minimises the risk of a wetsuit pushing against the buttons and ending the session accidentally (or your wrist bending back and hitting the buttons), however many riders prefer the simplicity of a single press. The choice is yours: 

Go to the Hoolan App on your watch and swipe right to get to the Settings screen. You have the option to select:​

  • One press - at the same time, press the digital crown and side button once to finish your session.
     

  • Double press (default) - at the same time, press the digital crown and the side button twice within a 1.5 second period to finish your session.
     

  • Off - your session will not finish if you press the digital crown and side button at the same time.
     

  • Disabled - this appears if you haven't accepted the write to Workouts permission.
